A patient today told me I "changed their life". They came to see me about a year ago for a routine eye exam, and on DFE they had a retinal heme. I sent them for blood work and didn't see them again until today (they missed their f/u with me last year.).
Turns out the patient ended up being diagnosed with some rare auto-immune vasculitis type of disorder and his rheumatologist was shocked it was being caught so early before having lung and kidney manifestations.
Don't let those articles from newsweek or w/e publication it was make you feel any different about the work we do!
Literally changing lives through routine eye examination.
Happy new years everyone.
