Will minus lens make myopia worse if worn while reading, using computers, or performing other close up tasks?

I recently noticed that my vision seems to be getting worse and I wear -2.00 contact lens. I've seen a few posts/articles saying that performing close up actions such as reading, using the computer, etc. while wearing negative lens will cause myopia to progress. According to this information, these lens are concave and are meant to be used to see things at a distance and should be removed while reading, ect. because it increases the strain on the eye while looking at something close. Is there any truth to these claims?
