I'm half east asian and my eyes are ok. I only need glasses to see things pretty far away. However I know and have met tons of east asians and like 95% of them wear glasses or contacts. It's by far the most of any race I've met. I googled it and they said it's because lack of sunlight. However, I don't buy that because I know lots of east asians in very sunny places like southern california, singapore, hong kong, south china etc and almost all of them need glasses/contacts. And I don't buy that the people in these very sunny places only stay in dark rooms all day and study/read/use computers. And the glasses/contacts they have are for very bad eyesight like they can't see good close or far away. I really think it's something genetic but I'm curious if someone knows anything about it.
