My new contacts are great, but my glasses strain my right eye. Is it normal for spectacle Rx to be same as contact lens Rx?

I recently got new insurance and had to change providers. It's been maybe 10 months since my last optometrist visit, and typically my vision hasn't changed more than 0.25 or 0.50.

With my last doctor, I got the following prescriptions:

Spectacle

OD: SPH -6.50 CYL -0.25 AXIS 030

OS: SPH -5.25 CYL -1.25 AXIS 004

Contact Lens

OD: 8.60 -6.00 SPH Dia: 14.20

OS: 8.70 -5.00 -1.25 x010 Dia: 14.50

With my new doctor, I got the following prescriptions:

Spectacle

OD: SPH -5.75

OS: SPH -5.00 CYL -1.75 AXIS 007

Contact Lens

OD: 8.60 -5.75 SPH Dia: 14.20

OS: 8.70 -5.00 -1.25 x010 Dia: 14.50

In 10 months, my contact lens prescription changed very little, and only OD changed. OS is identical. This makes sense to me, because my previous glasses gave me no cause for complaint, and I can see great through OS with either contacts and glasses. However, my OD spectacle prescription changed a lot, and it seems that my new lens is less powerful than the previous one. I can see great through my contacts (since the sph only changed 0.25, and everything else is the same), but not my glasses.

Is it possible that the spectacle lens should not have changed so much? If so, will I need to get the OD lens remade?
